“Education Policy and Future Trends”:  Minister of Education’s lecture

His Excellency / Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, gave a lecture titled "Education Policy and Future Trends", on Tuesday morning 10/13/2020 at the National Defence College - following the precautionary measures set by NDC to fight the Corona pandemic - in which he addressed several points regarding the UAE’s education system.

In attendance was Major General Pilot / Rashad Muhammad Salem Al Saadi, Commander of the NDC, His Excellency the Deputy Commander of the NDC, Wing Leaders and Members of the Faculty, as well as the 2020-2021 National Defence Course participants. At the beginning of the lecture, His Excellency focused on the pillars of development of the education system, those that were distinctly set by the UAE government to work for all educational levels for all governmental and private institutions state-wide. 

His Excellency also said that the UAE government, using brainstorming processes and continuous discussions, is striving to develop quality education through the development of diversified and targeted educational programs that are in line with achieving the Centennial Vision 2071 with excellent and continuous education. 

His Excellency shed light on education as a part of UAE’s future and the ambitious long-term plans relying on cognitive and technical learning in application, as the UAE seeks to have the best education system in the region. 

With regard to the existing education system, His Excellency pointed out that education in the UAE starts from the pre-school stage, during which the student continues to learn, passing through different educational stages and various scientific paths, up to the university stage, through which he defines his future academic specialization.

Addressing the impact of the pandemic, His Excellency reviewed the impact that the pandemic has had on various countries of the world in terms of the continuity or interruption of education, and shed light on the role that the MOE has played in managing this crisis and the success it achieved with maintaining continuous distance learning in a way that aligns with the future of education in the country. His Excellency pointed to the importance of planning in advance and the programs that have been set by the UAE government in support of smart and technical education in terms of distinct and multiple educational platforms that served the educational process without obstacles in aiding overcome this challenge. 
After concluding his lecture, His Excellency thanked all attendees for their collaboration and enriching the dialogue at the lecture with their participation and questions.
