Chairman of the National Service and Reserve talks at the National Defence College

Staff Pilot Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service, delivered a lecture entitled "National and Reserve Service in the UAE" on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the NDC headquarters. He stressed the importance of the role played by the National Service since its inception in building the capabilities of young people in all aspects of life and the fact that it has become one of the key resources of the UAE Armed Forces.

 

The lecture was attended by Staff Pilot Major General Rashad Mohammed Salem Al-Saadi, NDC Commandant, NDC Deputy Commandant, faculty members, NDC officers, and participants of NDC Course 2018-2019.

 

The lecture focused on several key topics and addressed objectives of the national service, most prominently was the contribution of national and reserve service in preserving the sovereignty of the state, strengthening its defence capabilities, supporting the vital institutions and sectors in the country during crises and disasters, and unifying and integrating the partners' efforts to support the national and reserve service program.

 

In his speech, the chairman of the National and Reserve Service talked about the impact of the national service on the state’s instruments of power, whether military, economic or political at the moment and in the future.

 

Speaking about the alternative service for recruits who did not meet the requirements, His Highness said that the aim is to take full advantage of the youth and train them on how to behave in critical situations in favor of business continuity in the vital sectors of the country during emergencies, crises and disasters.

 

The lecture also addressed the role of national service in achieving the concept of deterrence, its role in supporting economic development, the contribution of the national service in the electronic information promotion in the UAE Armed Forces. At the end of the lecture, H.H thanked the families of the recruits and praised their role in the success of the national and reserve service program in the UAE.
