Her Excellency Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Future Food Security, delivered a lecture entitled "Food Security" at the National Defence College on Monday, October 8, 2018. She was received by Staff Pilot Major General Rashad Mohammad Salem Al-Saadi, Commandant of the National Defence College.
At the beginning of the lecture, Her Excellency the Minister of Food Security reviewed the concept of food security and its components and data. She also highlighted the most important challenges facing food security at the local, regional, or international levels, as well as national solutions for the country’s future food security. Al Muhairi said the leadership of the UAE is keen to anticipate the future of food through the development of proactive solutions to any crises or emergencies that may affect the food security as it is an essential pillar of the national security in the UAE.
Al Muhairi also pointed to the importance of adopting advanced technological solutions in the development and maintenance of food elements, which are an important step in the process of food security sustainability. She added that the resources available in the country must be used optimally in every experience that might be able to achieve food security to which we all aspire in the future. During the lecture, the Minister of Food Security made a reply to the questions posed by the officers and 6th NDC Course 2018-2019 participants in all matters related to future food security issues.
