A delegation from the National Defence College, headed by Staff Brigadier Tareq Al Zaabi, NDC Deputy Commandant, visited the Federal National Council on Wednesday, September 27, 2018 at the headquarters of the FNC in Abu Dhabi. The delegation was briefed on the FNC’s activities, parliamentary strategy, legislative and oversight roles, and achievements of parliamentary diplomacy.
H.E Mohammed Salem bin Kordous Al Ameri, Chairman of the FNC Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, reviewed the role of the Federal National Council both internally and externally, in the presence of H.E Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, FNC Secretary-General, and H.E Jassem Yousef Al Zaabi, Assistant Secretary-General for Support Services. He also pointed out that the Federal National Council and all national institutions are an integral part of the security and national defence system.
For his part, H.E Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the FNC reviewed the parliamentary strategy for the years 2016-2021, the first of its kind in the region, which aims to reinforce national unity and good citizenship and to strengthen the legislative system in line with the best international standards. It also aims at improving the oversight role of the FNC in order to contribute to the achievement of the UAE vision, supporting the foreign policy of the state through a leading role of parliamentary diplomacy, enhancing active community participation and communication, and developing the internal capabilities of the FNC's organs to achieve outstanding parliamentary performance.
For his part, Staff Brigadier Tareq Al Zaabi praised the effective role of the Federal National Council, both internally and externally, and its progress in the parliamentary field at various levels.
